"To counter the authoritarian populism taking hold of Trump’s America, the left will have to find its way back to representing the oppressed, dispossessed and marginalized struggling to live in dignity. If it doesn’t, both America and the world are in for a rough ride."

I other words, the Democrats would need to adopt the MAGA agenda. For that to happen, the Democrats will have to extract from control the current radical raging feminists that run the show. And those raging fems are made more raging with every Trump utterance and action... I am sure that is part of the Trump strategy.

Frankly, if I were a moderate normie Democrat (of which I don't know really exist today), I would welcome DOGE stopping the flow of money to political NGOs and other non-profits that fund the radical raging fem resistance and protest industry. That will take away their funding and thus their power, and the normie Dems, if any exist, can fill the void.

Do any of these writers actually live in NYC? The issue on the minds of most voters is crime, especially on the subway. I see no possibility whatsoever for democratic socialists—and if by some miracle they win we will likely have a Republican mayor.

Life in the socialist bubble is devoid of rational thought.

Exactly. Congestion pricing was all about forcing people back onto the subway, who had abandoned public transportation, due to crime. I do not understand Dem women, especially, allowing themselves to be used as political pawns.

Subways have huge fixed and legacy costs, regardless of ridership rates, but toss in low usage, and the losses explode. When NYC stopped criminally charging turnstile jumping, 1/3 of riders stopped paying to use the subway. Couple that with people working from home, inflation, and crime and the NYC subway has been hit with the perfect storm.

So the NY Governor utilizes Climate as a decoy, to drive up the cost of Ubers or driving into NYC, to force citizens to utilize something twice a day, that scares them to death. It is cold and calculating policy, designed by a woman, to put other women at risk of bodily harm, on a daily basis. New Yorkers can hate Trump all they want, but killing congestion pricing will, undoubtedly, save some of them from being crime victims.

George Floyd was not "murder(ed)" He was high on drugs and had pre-existing conditions that led to his death when he resisted arrest and was accidentally killed by policeman Derek Chauvin. The 2nd degree murder charge was a fabrication to assuage outrage over Floyd's death.

Figuring out what the Dems need to change and become winners, and a change agent are two different things. Walz is doing much more damage than I think any Dem realizes. He couldn’t fight his way out of a wet paper bag. As more and more DOGE employees are exposed to the public, the better it looks for Musk and Trump. I saw Sam Corcos on Fox the other day. He is assigned to the Dept of Treasury. Impressive, employee focused and unlike anyone the left has out there representing them. The more the Repubs put these people out there, the worse the optics for the childish Dems. They have dug a deep hole and quite frankly, should fill it in with most Dems still in it.

The NYC demographic change doesn't seem terribly encouraging for your mission, at least there. Nor does Bernie's suggestions about Democrats solving the brand problem by running as something else. Works for him but it breaks down party loyalty.
