Can we acknowedge that DOGE has found a shocking amount of waste? I used to be an environmental voter, meaning I voted mostly democrat because they were better on environmental issues. Its shocking to learn about what has been going on at EPA. Twenty BILLION dollars to climate change. And in the months around the election 200 MILLION rushed out the door to brand new non profits started by dem operatives for climate change education. Please see the RealClear investigation on this subject, its very enlightening.
Cognition is definitely impacted but attention span even more so. Save for text, I have turned off all notifications and I constantly am annoyed by people who use text instead of email. Video is useful for some things like figuring out how to change your oil filter or installing some gizmo but text is far superior for anything that requires thought. Except for drive time, I really don't understand people who will listen to a podcast for 2 hours with content you could read in about 15 minutes. Not only the corporate media but also alt.right and alt.left equivalents have mostly devolved into click bait that doesn't really provide any useful information. More and more, after a quick scan of headlines, I depend on substack. Keep it up.
An update from a Vox article:
Ironic that I was distracted once again by a notification telling me to look at my phone in order to learn how to look at my phone less.
Free jazz lives, baby!
