Can you see the Republican party as a pro-citizen labor party? This whole pretense that importing millions of uneducated laborers doesn't have a huge negative affect on lower income voters (pay, housing, benefits) is crazy.

Limiting the number of immigrants and securing the border is a very different objective than rounding up and deporting millions of people who have been in the U.S. for years without authorization. Trump supporters are going to be disappointed if they believe he is actually going to follow through on deportation. Republicans could have had a good border deal earlier this year but they wanted to complain about "uneducated laborers" instead.

How about just identifying who is in our country? Illegal immigrants can get identity cards and green cards, but CAN NEVER vote or apply for citizenship. That includes so-called Dreamers. Criminals are not eligible. People who chose not to apply for this program are subject to automatic deportation.

We have to get a handle on who is coming into this country.
