Hispanic voters are socially conservative. Accept it or keep losing. It really is that simple.

You don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows. You guys have been pretty clear about what the Democrat's problem is. The trouble is that no one is listening.

I assume you are not much of a fan of Peachy Keenan but her analysis is much the same as years but without the assumption that it can be fixed within the party.

So true. No one is listening.

Why do most hispanic people come to the USA? To have a better quality of life, to earn more money than they can in their home countries. They often buy a white SUV as soon as they get a good job. ( quite understandable for someone who maybe never had a nice car, or a car at all). So why would hispanic voters care about some of the signature issues of the democrats? Climate change, transgender rights, sanctuary cities, covid lockdowns and school closures ( most hispanics had to work anyway). How do these issues resonate with Hispanic voters?

I am not a professional political consultant, why don't the dem strategists see this?

The TV show creator/showrunner Steven Bochco nailed it 42 years ago, in the episode of Hill Street Blues called "Officer of the Year." At the luncheon honoring him as "Hispanic Officer of the Year," Ray Calletano is introduced as a "Puerto Rican-American."

RAY: Chief Daniels, my esteemed colleagues, it is with great pride that I accept and thank you for this award. At a time like this, I feel that there is only one thing that I can say: Why huevos rancheros? And why margaritas? Why do you assume that all Hispanic people like that kind of food? I don't like that kind of food. I'm not Mexican. I'm not even Puerto Rican. You go to all this trouble to give this banquet in my honor, and no one even bothers to find out that I'm COLOMBIAN, not Mexican or Puerto Rican. And furthermore, phrases like "credit to his people" and "fine Puerto Rican-American" tend to stick in the throat of a man who has been a citizen of this country for twenty-two years. And why is it that when you are all here today to honor me as Hispanic Officer of the Year, I look around a room full of ranking officers and the only other Hispanics I see are waiters and busboys? As far as I am concerned, you can keep your award!

Biden approves policies that jack up the cost of food, gas and rent... puts cross-dressing men and other woke radicals in his cabinet demanding that we call Hispanics "Latinx" and looks out with a blank stare over his podium illuminated by blood-red lighting and surrounded by armed soldiers and the corporate media feels comfortable that Hispanics will see Democrats as their loving advocates.

Hmmm gosh, maybe Hispanic men don’t want their daughters sharing bathrooms with boys?

Demographics is destiny….as they say.

The Democrats as they are today are toast. The party would need to adopt Trump's platform for them to become popular enough again.

They don’t need to adopt Trump’s platform, but something in between that and the “woke” left might help.

It seems reasonable to me to conclude from their voting patterns that Hispanic people are more "conservative" in many ways than elite white Democrats. When immigrants are new to a country they probably vote for the party that makes a show of favoring their demographic, but after settling in here they vote more on the basis of their values.

Brilliant reporting, but it would appear from many of the comments on the LP site, many Dems are not ready for the reckoning, they desperately need.

Fox News, not policy, is still the most likely election culprit for Dems. Along with ill educated voters, easily manipulated by other omnipresent "misinformation". Many Dems pound their fists, like toddlers in a tantrum, as they insist, Covid caused inflation, not Dem spending, and immigration is only a "real" issue, for those residing in border and adjacent states.

It was little funny, right after the election, now it is has become enlightening. If Dems can ignore blatant facts regarding the election, how easy must it be, to ignore the loss of Hispanic voters?

How much variation is there potentially by current VoteCast data and what will come out later once they have the voter files? In other words, is it possible that the Latino shift wasn't quite as extreme? In any event, holy crap.

You set forth the problem wel, Ruy . Now please help us figure out what to do about it!!

Fine. You lay out the data. But why? What percentage of the shift has to do with the real possibility that the prospect of a black women for president was anathema to these voters. And if that's the case, what survey or poll or study would substantiate the idea that American voters--in particular Hispanic voters outlined in your piece--wanted nothing to do with a black woman president? And, in our lifetime, may never be. Surely the swing of Hispanic voters can't be solely explained by economic malaise, as so many have explained.

Have you not read the previous dozen articles on this Substack? Or are you that determined to keep losing? In any case, you won't get any pushback from me if you want Democrats to keep lecturing Americans on how racist and sexist they are.

Thank you for the belly laugh. The "are you determined to keep losing " was the best line of the day. Bravo.

Minority voters already voted twice for a black man for President. Kamala Harris's loss had nothing to do with her supposed race or gender, she was a lousy candidate, part of a very unpopular administration, and had no program or policies except more of the same. I live in a heavily Hispanic area, and the people I know are socially conservative and entrepreneurial, and family is the center of their world. The Dems policies are designed and implemented specifically to destroy all of that. Hispanics are not stupid, they can see what's going on, and when they were offered a hopeful alternative that fits their values, they voted for it.
