If there is one thing this independent voter truly does NOT care about , it's " America's standing in the world." To me, that sounds like a neo-con/deep state slogan used to justify the foreign policy establishment consensus . Why should we care how foreign elites view us? Although supporting Ukraine by running a proxy war with Russia ( under Biden) may play well in Europe, it was not popular anywhere outside of Europe. ( I lived in Europe for 20 years and I have family in Algeria, UK and France and have many international friends and family members) .
I agree he has alienated Canada and undermined Poilievre and boosted the creepy deep state bankster, Mark Carney. The Canada thing baffles me. Why in the heck would we want to add them to our country.? They elected Trudeau. They would recreate a permanent democrat majority.
A country with government owned press that's all in on censorship, that confiscates bank accounts without warrants, that promotes Medical Assistance in Dying (MAID) (almost 5% of all deaths), and has a substandard health care system. No thanks.
I'm pretty sure Trump doesn't want to admit Canada to the Union. He just enjoys the wailing and gnashing of teeth that such proposals induce. Remember, the guy is at heart an insult comic/ shock jock. The only successful business venture he ever had was The Apprentice.
Besides, admitting 39M Canadians would not alter our electoral dynamics in his favor. If an ardent Marxist is a 0 and a firebreathing fascist conservative is a 10, then most American Democratic lawmakers are a 4 and most of our Republican representatives are around an 8. Bernie and AOC are a 2. Most Canadian conservatives are at most a 6. If allowed to vote in our elections the vast majority of Canadians would vote Democrat.
You'll care when those foreigners decide that US T-bills are not the best place to park their money. We have accumulated 30+Trn in debt with very little pain to show for it. Why? Because we were the big dog, with a predictable government that mostly played by the rules and had a track record of thumping skulls to keep the world order in our image.
Now, Trump and his team are smashing the machinery and relationships that keep our government running. How long before today's potential investors begin to worry that they won't get able to get their money out because the next batch won't buy in.
When you're this far in debt, you're basically operating in a Ponzi scheme. And Trump is no Bernie Madoff, more like a street hustler playing three card monte. With stable, predictable government we might have a decade or more to deal with our situation before our credit goes bad. As it is, investors are already taking note of where the exit signs are.

It is not just elites. Take a trip to Canada. You don't miss your friends till you need them.
